You can check if Monitor is working on a device and sending back data without prompting a call from our Moderation team.
Use ‘Smoothwall Test Suicide’
Important
Before starting this test, notify your school's Safeguarding team to prevent undue alarm on their part should they get a Level 5 alert email.
- On a monitored device, search ‘Smoothwall Test Suicide’.
- Tap or press Enter on your keyboard.
The test phrase will generate a Level 5 Event, but our Moderation Team won't make alert phone calls, as they'll know you're conducting a test.
Why you should use ‘Smoothwall Test Suicide’ to test Monitor
Using a different test phrase might not result in an Event that triggers an alert email. You may be led to believe Monitor is not sending back data, unless you manually check the portal.
Depending on the Alerting Profile settings, lower-risk Events (Level 3 and below) may not generate email alerts. However, Level 5 risks trigger both email alerts and phone calls. In the case of an obvious test, our Moderation team won’t make phone calls, but they’ll send email alerts.
Note
Although our Support Team is familiar with the test phrase, ‘Smoothwall Test Suicide’, advise them that you’re testing Monitor before starting your testing. To avoid sending an influx of alerts, limit testing the phrase to one or two devices only.
