CSAM and CSEA risk levels

Alerts are categorised as Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (CSEA) when Monitor detects a person who:

  • Discusses, searches for, or accesses Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (CSEA).

  • Normalises, encourages, or engages in discussions or imagery of a sexual nature with a child or young person.

  • Offers, requests, generates, or sends photos, videos, webcam footage, or live streams of a sexual nature involving a child or young person.

  • Searched for CSAM or CSEA content, but did not access any of the search results. 
  • Searched for explicit images using terms that are likely to return CSAM images, even if unintentionally.

A person is:

  • Asking a child or young person about their sexual experience or preferences, or for any other information of a sexual nature. 

The student is: 

  • A child being encouraged to view, discuss or participate in activities of a sexual nature.

  • Accessed CSAM or CSEA content of any kind. 
  • Generated CSAM using an AI image generator or Nudify app.
  • Used a search term or an unrecognised website that hit a page blocked by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) or Lucy Faithfull Foundation. In this case, the screenshot and URL may be disguised.

A person is: 

  • Attempting to desensitise a child or young person to sexual discussion and imagery by normalising and encouraging them to participate in it. Requested photos, videos, access to a webcam or live streaming of a sexual nature with a child or young person. 

The student: 

  • Has offered or has sent photos, videos, given access to a webcam or live-streamed themselves in a sexual manner
