This article explains how to install the Monitor client on macOS versions 10.13 (High Sierra) and 10.14 (Mojave). You will need to download and run an installer package, and (on Mojave) allow Accessibility permissions.
If you are installing on macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later, see this article instead.
Installation
- Download the installer from Smoothwall Product Download page, under Monitor Client.
-
Click the relevant version for your devices' operating system and region, and download it.
Note
The installer should be called visigo-1.12.pkg. Contact Monitor Support if you can't download this file.
- Double-click the downloaded .pkg file.
- Enter the provided Organisation ID and follow the prompts to complete the installation.
Configure Accessibility permissions
Give the Smoothwall Monitor Client accessibility permissions.
- Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
- Select the Privacy tab, then Accessibility.
- Under the "Allow the apps below to control your computer" section, click the plus (+) and navigate to and open the VisigoAgent: Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Visigo > VisigoAgent >VisigoAgent
- Select Open.
- Make sure that the VisigoAgent appears selected in the list.
- Restart the device.
The device should start sending data to Monitor. You may need to refresh the page if it is already open.
Note
If the plus (+) icon is grayed or inactive, select the padlock and enter your administrator password.
Setting Accessibility permissions may not be required for macOS High Sierra. For further information, see:
- Change Privacy preferences on Mac (external link)
- Allow accessibility apps to access your Mac (external link)
Unattended installation
- Download your installer from the Smoothwall Product Download, under the Monitor Client section
- Click the relevant version for your devices' operating system and region, and download it. The installer should be called visigo-1.12.pkg. Contact Monitor Support if you can't download this file.
- Save the file in a shared network location.
- In the same network location, create a Plain Text file called visigo.settings, making sure that the filename does not have an extension (e.g. .txt, .rtf) and add OrgId=your_orgID, where your_orgID is the unique ID provided for your organization.
- Open the Terminal app and type the command: installer -pkg <filename> -target /
The client will now be installed, but accessibility permissions must still be set manually (see section above).
