Adding and Editing Directories

This article is for Onboarding Contacts.

As an Onboarding Contact, you can view, add, edit, and sync Windows AD and Google directories with Monitor on the Admin Panel.

Viewing synced directories

Both cloud and on-premise directories appear on the Directories page.

  1. Sign-in to Smoothwall Portal > Admin Panel.

    2. Sync Date/Status

Sync requested Sync has been requested but not yet completed.
Never synced Sync has never been requested.
Last sync failed Last attempted sync was unsuccessful

Adding a directory

Note
Directories created on-premise cannot be managed on the cloud. You must sign-in to the on-premise device to add and sync Monitor to your Windows AD Domain Service.

  1. Select Add Directory.
  2. Choose your directory type, then select Confirm.

Tip

You can start setting up Smoothwall Groups once sync is complete.

Editing a directory

Note

If you’re editing an on-premise directory, you must sign-in to your on-premise device and sync Monitor with Windows AD Domain Service. See Syncing Windows AD with Monitor (No Appliance/Gateway) for the steps.

  1. Select the directory you want to edit.
  2. Confirm your tenant:
    • If you have a single-tenant license, your tenant is selected by default.
    • If you have a multi-tenant license, you can choose to apply your changes to all tenants by selecting All tenants.

    • If you’re applying your changes only to some tenants, select Selected tenants, then deselect the tenants you will exclude from your changes.
  3. Select Sync Directory, then select Save.

Note

The time it takes to complete the sync depends on the size of your directory, from a few minutes for smaller directories to an hour for larger directories. You can check the sync status on the Directories page.
