Our testing shows that ChromeOS version 88 (released in January 2021) is the earliest version that supports Monitor using the MV3 extension framework.
Google has ended support for the Manifest V2 (MV2) framework. For more information, see Google’s Manifest V2 support timeline.
If any devices run an earlier version, you must update or replace them.
Note
The Monitor Chrome extension does not run on Windows or Mac in Chrome or Edge, so the browser version on these platforms does not matter. Windows and Mac should be running the desktop Monitor application.
Step 1: Identify devices
-
In Google Admin Console, go to Devices > Chrome > Devices. You can see all enterprise-managed ChromeOS devices.
Note
You won’t see unmanaged devices, such as personal devices that users sign in to.

Step 2: Update devices
All dates listed are after Jan 2021
Update ChromeOS for your devices.
If updates fail, settings in your Google Admin Console may block them. For help, see Google's documentation: Manage updates on ChromeOS devices.
All dates listed are before Jan 2021, or you have a mixture of older and newer devices
You can’t update these devices. You must replace them with devices that support ChromeOS version 88 or higher.
