Contextual Captures details
| ITEM | DESCRIPTION |
|---|---|
Date & Time |
The day, month, year, and time of the captured activity. Time is in 24-hour format. |
Hostname |
The device’s name which identifies it within the network. You can enter the device’s hostname to check when it last connected to Monitor and sent a capture. The hostname can help you and your IT Contact identify the physical device the user used. |
Window Title |
The application or browser window’s title or label. This can help you investigate the type of content in the capture. |
Message Capture |
The text the user typed on their device. Captures are transcripts of students’ inputs or keystrokes. For example, Monitor will capture the key phrase ‘I want to hurt myself’ which a student has typed into a search engine. If they add ‘lyrics’ or ‘song’ at the end of the search expression, Monitor will make another capture, which may indicate that the student is only looking for lyrics or a song. However, if the student follows it up with ‘cutting’ or ‘burning’, then captures would indicate that the student is at risk of self-harm and needs immediate support. Important If you need to access information immediately, such as during an emergency situation, you can submit a Rapid Information in a Student Emergency (RISE) Request to access information immediately, by completing in this form. |
Screenshot |
A screenshot of the activity. Not all Events trigger a screenshot and those with explicit imagery involving children are deleted immediately. Screenshots are permanently deleted after 15 months. Note Monitor screenshots the user’s screen only when a certain risk level is met. To see a screenshot in full, select View. If you can’t select View, it means the Capture doesn’t include a screenshot. Turn on View Screenshots Only to filter for captures that contain screenshots. |
|
Capture Information includes details of the student’s device and network connection, such as IP and MAC addresses. Select Capture Information (...) to display the Capture Information pop-up. You can copy the details shown by selecting Copy to clipboard. |

| The Camera icon indicates initial Capture for an Event, and is used to show the reason why Monitor has raised the concern. |
